Health & Safety Plans

A Health and Safety Program is a definite plan of action designed to prevent accidents and occupational diseases

A Health and Safety Program is a definite plan of action designed to prevent accidents and occupational diseases. In British Columbia, occupational Health and Safety Programs are required by employers with a workforce of 20 or more workers or in a workplace where workers would be exposed to a moderate or high risk of injury (BC OHS Reg. Part 3.1). Less formal programs are still required for smaller employers.

Because organizations differ, a program developed for one organization may not necessarily meet the needs of another. We can work with employers to create individualized programs, audit, re-write or modify existing programs to remain current and in compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements.

Island EHS is also available to help create specific Health and Safety Program elements, beyond the basic program elements. Some examples include confined space programs and exposure control plans for materials such as asbestos, lead and/or silica. Program elements can focus on technical expertise, as well as Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management systems in place.

Our staff consists of designated Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH). These individuals are recognized for their broad based safety knowledge to develop systems that will achieve optimum control over hazards and exposure detrimental to people, equipment, material and the environment.
